"Required parameter missing" when trying to change DNS

This page explains and gives you the solutions needed to solve the DNS change problem if you see this error.

In nearly every instance, this happens when Gandi has submitted your DNS change request to the registry, but the registry refused it because your DNS do not meet their criteria, or the domain is in the process of being transferred.

The refusal is not from Gandi or Gandi's system, but rather, the registry itself.

Additional information: Who or what are the ”registries”?)

For .COM, .NET, .ORG domains:

Reason: The problem is due to the fact that one or more of the DNS in the group that you want to attach to your domain do not have glue records (the NS administrator has not declared the IP addresses of the nameservers with the registry).

Solution !:

1. Contact the administrator of your nameservers and request that they create the glue records with the registrar of the domain name.

If the domain is at Gandi, and you manage it, you can use our Glue records management interface to do this.

2. Return to the domain's control panel and from the DNS section, resubmit the DNS change, and it will pass.

For .DE domains:

Reason: The German registry refuses the DNS change because it fails their zonecheck.

Solution !: Following a transfer of a domain to Gandi, if you want to use Gandi's DNS, you will need to contact Gandi's customer support, because they need to put the .DE domain in Gandi's DNS zone before you can submit the request to the registry via our website.

Please confirm that you would like to use Gandi's DNS, and be sure to write from an email address/handle that is authorized to make the change.

For other extensions:

Reason: The problem is due to the the registry refusing the DNS change because it thinks that other information is missing, or conflicting.

Solution !: You will need to contact Gandi's customer support in this case, because they will need to see the internal error messages from the registry that will give more information as to why the DNS were refused.

Please use the online support form at: http://www.gandi.net/faq/form_contact_support/

Please include the DNS that you are trying to apply to your domain name in your support mail, and be sure to write from an email address/handle that is authorized to make the change.
