The www subdomain

www is just like any other subdomain, but is an extremely common cause of confusion. Follow these steps if your domain only works with (or without) www in front of it.

My domain doesn't work without www!

If www.example.com works, but example.com doesn't:

Add web forwarding to make example.com redirect to www.example.com:

  1. Choose 301 Direct (permanent) Forwarding
  2. Leave the “subdomain” field blank
  3. Type www.example.com in the “forwarding address” field (replace example.com with your domain name).
  4. Submit

This change should take effect immediately if the domain was already pointing at our web redirection/parking service. Otherwise, the change will take at least 3 hours to propagate.
