Does SiteMaker compress my images when I upload them?

If you upload a very large image, our software will automatically create 2 additional compressed versions of your image for use on your site. We do this so that your site will load more quickly for your visitors.

The first is a very small thumbnail (for use in our galleries), the second will be a smaller version of your original file, which you can use on your page, and the original you have uploaded will be stored on your system in it's original size.

If you create a download link to your image, it will always use the original (larger) image file that you uploaded.

The additional versions that we create do not count towards your disk space limit. Should you not want us to do this, please uncheck the 'optimize my images' check box on the upload screen.
