Choosing a password

There are many online resources to help you choose a good password, and we suggest that you do some research into the subjet to assure that your password is as secure as possible.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE should one of the following passwords be used:

  • root
  • admin
  • pass
  • password
  • 123456
  • qwerty
  • abc123
  • (your name)

Also, A basic hacker tactic is to run a program that tries every word in the dictionary as a password (called a dictionary attack). So just because your password may be long, if it is a word, then it may be quickly hacked.

A password should contain a mixture of ASCII numbers and letters, in both upper and lower case. The password should also be long, yet easy to remember.

For example, a good password could be:

gandivirtualserver

Though a better password would be:

Gand1V1rtual3erver
