Troubleshooting a Gandi VPS in AI mode
My websites are no longer visible on the web
Resubmit your AI configuration
- From your server administration page, click “Manage your Gandi AI server” under the “System administration” section.
- At the top of the page, click “Configure my server.”
- Scroll to the bottom and click the “Submit” button. This will display your configuration.
- Scroll to the bottom again and click the “Submit” button.
You will see the confirmation message “The following order has been registered: 'Configure Packages'.”
This will:
- Reapply the correct rights to virtual hosts and files
- Restart services
- Recreate files and folders (such as
htdocs/
andlogs/
) when they have been deleted by mistake.
Check the logs
You know the drill: connect via FTP to check your server logs; they will usually contain clues about the cause of the problem.
If you cannot connect via FTP to see your logs, there may be an issue with the FTP service or even the entire virtual machine.
Ping the server
If the server responds to a ping
command but is not accessible via HTTP or FTP, it indicates that the VPS is running but that there is an issue with the services. See “Resubmit your AI configuration” below.
Verify that your server has not been stopped
You may have stopped your server by accident, or have forgotten that you have stopped it.
Verify that your server has not been paused
You may need to renew or purchase additional resources.
Verify that your Apache server is looking for your websites on the right disk
You may have accidentally switched disks in your apache2 package configuration and submitted the configuration update. This would cause your Apache server to look in the wrong location for the website files.
Contact support
If your AI server is still not responding, contact support.
I can't upload files via FTP
- Verify that you are using the correct connection credentials. See Uploading files to your server using FTP
- Verify that you have specified that your FTP client use “passive” mode.
I need PHP 5.2.4 at least or even 5.3, I have only PHP 5.2.3
See gandi-ai-php523 →
You will have to migrate to the new Gandi AI version (2011) in order to upgrade the modules the prior Gandi AI can provide PHP up to 5.2.3 only.
