It is possible, at any time, to change the size of your instance. Whether you need more power temporarily, or you want to reduce it so that you pay less, you will find that the process is simple and rapid.
Start by going to the control panel of your instance (the process is unique to each instance), and then click on the “Change” link that you see next to Disk Space on the upper right-hand corner.
Concerning the modification of the power of your instance, it s represented by different sizes: S, M, L, XL, XXL from the smallest to the largest.
The same interface is both used to modify the power of the instance and the size of its disk space. The two operations can be done separately, or at the same time,
In order to modify the power of your instance, you just need to select the desired value in the “Size” dropdown menu and click submit.
The calculation is made based on 2 criteria: the remaining time before the expiration date of your instance, and its current size.
A pro rata is already calculated with regards to the total paid time remaining of the instance.
→ For example, if during the last renewal you subscribed to the instance for 30 days and you perform your size change 6 days later, the pro rata of remaining time is 24 days.
This calculation will allow Gandi to calculate how much money to refund to you versus the time remaining, and what you initially paid for.
→ For example, in this case, Gandi will refund you 24 days of your subscription of your current instance size, or 80% of the price you originally paid for
Finally, the system will calculate the price corresponding to the time remaining and the to the new desired size and will then bill you, or refund you accordingly.
→ For example, in the event where you choose an instance that is larger then the current one, the price would be equivalent to 80% of the monthly price of this instance. The system will therefore bill you for this amount, to which it will subtract the amount it calculated that it owes you for the pro rata of the old instance.
In other words, if the price is greater, you will be asked to pay for the difference. If the price is lower, then your prepaid account will be refunded.
