Widgets

The blog sidebar is entirely modifiable. Its content is made of different modules called “widgets”, allowing you to organize the blog menu.

From the administration interface, choose the Presentation widgets link in the left-hand menu.

The panel which will open will contain three columns: the first one lists the elements (widgets) which can be placed in the blog menu. The second column contains the navigation sidebar's defined widgets, and the last column contains the extra sidebar's widgets.

A number of extensions create a corresponding widget. They will appear at the bottom of the list of available widgets.

In the default theme the menu is displayed as one single lateral column. In this case, the column is made up of a navigation sidebar and an extra sidebar. In certain layouts the designer separates them, having one column for the entries and two columns for the menu, or a lateral column and a bloc at the bottom of the page, for example. The two ensembles which make up your blog menu therefore allow for a multitude of formulas, according to which the sidebars can be separated or attached.

Default widgets

As long as they haven't been customized, sidebars have a default content.

The navigation sidebar contains the Search engine, Navigation links, Selected entries, Blog languages, Categories list and Tags widgets.

The extra sidebar contains the Subscribe links and Blogroll widgets.

Adding/Deleting a widget

To add a widget, it's enough to drag-and-drop the module from the first column to the second or third one. To save the modifications, click the update sidebars button.

If javascript has been disabled in your browser, you can use the little scroll menus for each module to choose its destination.

For each sidebar the default widgets will be replaced by the one you will have dropped. Remember to re-insert the widgets you wish to keep.

If you wish to reset the default modules, click reset sidebars.

Widgets settings

Most widgets have modifiable settings, such as the title displayed on the blog (Search engine, for example) or the choice to display widgets on all pages or only the index.

To modify these settings, click the button next to the relevant widget to open its options. Once you are finished, don't forget to click update sidebars for these changes to be taken into account.
